About The Role
This role is responsible for leading the newly created Talent and Engagement team (6 FTE) at Motability Operations Ltd (MO). 
An integral part of the HR function, the Talent & Engagement Team provide specialist support across a range of critical people activities including; Talent Acquisition & Recruitment; Learning & Development, Internal Communications, Engagement & Employer Brand and Diversity & Inclusion.
This role weaves together key projects in these areas in support of MO’s ambition to maintain and improve upon its current position as one of the best employers in the UK.
Focusing on creating an outstanding employment experience internally, and projecting this experience externally, the Talent and Engagement team play a critical role in attracting and retaining critical skills in a highly dynamic market.
  • Talent Acquisition/Recruitment – leads the Resourcing team to provide high quality, innovative, progressive attraction and recruitment services across MO, particularly building MO’s external employment brand whilst identifying and promoting the use of tools and channels that maximise diverse and inclusive candidate attraction. 
  • L&D – develops high quality, innovative development programmes and processes in support of MO’s business strategy. Builds a powerful ‘core curriculum’ for the business encompassing a wide range of core skills/generic , ranging from corporate induction through to Executive Development (nb: Operational /technical Training is managed locally within the Divisions/Functions). 
  • Career Development – establishes a Career Development ‘ecosystem’ within MO that provides clear career paths within Functions, whilst facilitating increased cross-functional movement with a view to maximising engagement and retention at all levels within the business. 
  • Internal Communications – leads the formation of a comprehensive internal communications framework and plan, ensuring employees are engaged and involved with MO’s strategy, well informed on organisational news, able to easily access a good range of useful operational information, and actively participating in a two-way dialogue across a range of relevant topics. 
  • Engagement & Brand – co-ordinates MO’s annual engagement survey and in conjunction with the HR Busines Partners, leads the development of the resulting action plan, to progressively improving the employment experience for MO employees and thereby developing the foundations of MO’s employer brand on an ongoing basis.
  • Inclusion – actively advocates the broad-based ownership of MO’s Inclusion strategy across the business, plays a co-ordinating role in pulling various strands of D&I activity together to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Reports to the Head of Human Resources
  • Works proactively and with autonomy on TA, Development, Communications, Engagement & Inclusion projects in line with business requirements 
  • Acts autonomously in the planning of time and work load and acts independently when providing counsel to others
  • Manages activity & projects within agreed plan timescales and budgets and in consultation with the Head of HR and wider HR leadership team
  • Works cross-functionally across MO, including with Marketing and the operational training and communications teams. Identifies and leverages resource across MO and suppliers when assigned projects or initiatives
  • Continually seeks the most efficient, cost-effective and value-driven Talent & Engagement processes and procedures, systems and tools 
  • Ability to travel between UK sites in London, Bristol and Edinburgh
About You
You will have gained the following skills/experience:
  • Able to demonstrate clear commercial acumen, confidently aligning proposed activity with strategic business need
  • Committed to learning about, maintaining and sharing knowledge of progressive Recruitment, Learning, Engagement and Inclusion practices and trends
  • Experience of diagnosing, designing, outsourcing, delivering and evaluating a broad range of People oriented initiatives and programmes
  • Senior business partnering experience in either an HR or Communications role, able to confidently hold your own in front of an Executive audience
  • Consultative style with the ability to constructively challenge senior business leads
  • Confident communicator and influencer, both verbally and written
  • Robust relationship management and partnering skills
  • Proven organisation, prioritisation and project management skillws
  • Experience in a dynamic service function (e.g HR, Communications)
Minimum Criteria
  • Extensive professional HR and/or Communications experience in a complex, progressive organisational environment
  • Deep commitment to driving an inclusive business culture through the team’s work
  • Excellent prioritisation and project management experience
  • Proven analytical and objective approach to work
  • Committed to leveraging technology to increase the effectiveness of programmes initiated through the Talent & Engagement team
