About The Role
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our development team on a high profile project. The candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of building Oracle based data warehouses using popular data integration and transformation tools as a part of an overall analytics solution. The candidate should have hands on technical experience in programming, SQL and data manipulation/transformation of large data sets using varied databases and platforms.

Responsibilities include; 
  • Build and support data warehouses/data marts/data stores to facilitate data analytics and insights
  • Build and support data integration and transformation routines from source systems to target data stores using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Jython, Groovy, PL/SQL and Python and potentially using Java, Scala and Spark
  • Build performant code following good development practices and improve existing code as appropriate
  • Work closely with the BA and business analytics team to build data structures that facilitate data driven insights using various BI Tools like OBIEE, Tableau etc.
  • Scope of work includes on premise and cloud platform environments primarily covering relational databases (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL), file/object stores (e.g. AWS S3, Oracle cloud object store) and potentially NoSQL database, data lake technologies that are open source (primarily Hadoop eco system) and AWS proprietary
  • Build and support more advanced use cases like streaming, real time analytics, machine learning as these requirements arise
About You

You will have gained the following experience/skills;

Mandatory
  • Building, enhancing, supporting data warehouse solutions (primarily using Oracle data warehouse technologies)
  • Proven technical ability in developing, enhancing, tuning and supporting ETL/ELT and data integration solutions using popular tools from Oracle (Oracle Data Integrator/ODI), Informatica, Microsoft, Talend, IBM etc.
  • Star schema/Dimensional modelling
  • Experience with a general purpose programming language, 3+ years' experience such as Python, Scala, Java, PL/SQL
  • Working with Linux or Windows operating systems and version control systems (Git) (3+ years)
  • Proven track record of project delivery
  • Experience of using advanced SQL and working with relational databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Experience of cloud based databases (cloud native/managed offering in cloud)
  • Experience in cloud computing and storage platforms
  • Build data and to facilitate deeper insight into the business and operational support, allowing for critical discoveries surrounding key performance indicators on key business matrices
  • Familiarity and understanding of working with Big Data

Desirable

  • Experience of building data integration/transformation routines using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
  • Experience of programming in Python, Scala, Spark primarily to build analytics applications
  • Experience of building analytics solution using AWS Redshift, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Presto, AWS EMR, AWS glue, AWS Athena
  • Experience of building analytics solution around Google Analytics, Big Query and GCP
  • Experience with migrating on premise data stores to cloud based alternatives
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments (GCP/AWS preferred)
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment to deliver high profile project deliverables
  • Experience with AWS data pipeline, Azure data factory or Google Cloud Dataflow
  • Working with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes etc )
  • Knowledge of R and statistical languages
