About The Role
The Actuary works in Motability Operations’ insurance team, carrying out actuarial activities in support of MO Group’s insurance model. Supporting our Senior Actuary, the role holder will aid in the completion of reporting, pricing, reserving, and ad hoc projects for the Insurance team through researching data sources and gathering data; verifying data integrity; updating actuarial models; and preparing actuarial and ad hoc reports.

The Role
  • Reserving (quarterly):
    • Preparation and reconciliation of data
    • Support the calculation of claims movements and latest projections of ultimate settlements, using appropriate actuarial techniques and loss development factors
    • Maintain documentation of process and controls, and draft the summary presentation and paper
  • Pricing (half-yearly):
    • Support the production of a proposed premium for the next period for each head of damage
    • Produce draft summary presentation and paper
  • Full ownership for a suite of key reports, providing management information for the rest of the team and MO senior management
  • Support the on-going development and automation of key outputs
  • In addition to Excel and Access, data manipulation using software including SAS and reserving tools
About You

You will have gained the following experience/skills:

  • Part-qualified Actuary
  • Excellent PC skills and Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Good experience working with very large data sets


  • Fully-qualified Actuary
  • Experience in motor insurance
  • Experience in pricing or reserving
  • Experience developing MI
  • Experience using SAS software
