About The Role
The role is responsible for the protection of critical data, resiliency of systems and networks and defence against cyber threats. The role is a key decision maker for shaping technology strategy and solutions. Its objective is to enable the achievement of business and technology goals in line with risk appetite. It works closely with business stakeholders and is part of the IT leadership.
 
Reporting into the Head of IT Operations, key responsibilities include:
 
Security Leadership
  • Be the ‘ambassador’ and ‘champion’ for the organisation’s cyber security function; ensuring its vision and objectives are articulated in a business context, understood and delivered.
  • Define the security strategy and roadmap and shape the security function to enable business objectives and protect the organisation from cyber threats.
  • Raise awareness of cyber risks and develop the skillsets, approaches and processes to manage them across the IT organisation. Represent Cyber Security on various risk and programme committees.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide best practices approaches for implementing cloud security controls and architecture for established cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google) and SaaS offerings.
  • Provide best practice on implementing container security controls and orchestration.
  • Provide best practice for embedding security controls into DevOps and secure development practices across multiple teams and CI/CD pipelines.

Security Operations Management

  •  Lead the enhancement of security operations through expanding the in-house team, on-boarding a managed services partner and establishing processes, controls, reporting and tools.
  • Expand security monitoring across the infrastructure and critical applications covering tool deployment, operational runbooks, effective detection, reporting and metrics.
  • Provide effective management and governance of outsourced security operation providers, such as Anti-DDoS, Intrusion Detection and Penetration Testing.

Resilience

  • Ensure resiliency of IT operations, IT infrastructure and systems is designed into solutions from the outset.
  • Ensure recovery plans are in place, tested and accurate.

People Management

  • Manage Cyber Security & Resilience team (4 SecOps & Resilience + 4 Security Programme Specialists), quality of work, performance and professional development.
  • Collaborate, advice and direct all other IT functions in order to embed and progress security objectives.
  • Establish strong rapport and collaborate with the business risk team and key business stakeholders.
About You

This role is perfect for someone that is passionate about cyber security, resilience, protecting customer data and forging relationships with IT teams and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience of having done just that.

You should enjoy creating a vision and championing it; working closely with other teams and defining pragmatic solutions to complex challenges.

To get the most from this role experience of leading and motivating teams is a must.

The ideal candidate will have expert level communication, customer service and organisational skills as well as practical knowledge of broad aspects of IT infrastructure especially cloud. You will need to be able to use your communication skills to present information, influence others and cascade information appropriately at the right time and in the right manner.

This role is most suited to someone who is able to drive results, who seeks ways to make improvements and understands business objectives and the importance of meeting timescales. The individual should be organised, structured and methodical in your approach to information management.
